Pre-Marital and Marriage and Counseling

Marriage is the only human relationship that is considered a “spiritual relationship” ordained by God. The goal of pre-marital counseling is to explore areas of commonality and areas of potential conflict. Couples are encouraged to communicate differences of opinion, personal morals/values, and expectations of marriage. The preparation time for marriage is key! When the honeymoon is over couples need to be prepared for the hard part…conflict, sickness, financial problems, parenting, and the list goes on.

Counseling offers couples strategies to improve their relationship, teach each person how to regulate emotions, communicate, and how to resolve conflict.

  • Both individuals must be willing to work on their marriage and be devoted to the reconciliation process.
  • If there are any underlying mental health issues, then the spouse of the client must agree to seek individual therapy from another therapist of their choice.
